Measure the inseam by starting at the center crotch seam, then measuring all the way down one leg to the hem. Having the pants buttoned up, spread the pants on a surface flat.

How to measure rise and inseam on pants. Short rise pants are not easy to find, but they are a blessing for men with short legs (which happens to be most guys who are below average height). Measure across the knee area. Rise will be described on a scale ‘high’ to ‘low’, with a high rise being the longest.
Find the front rise of the pants. The rise is the length from the top of the inseam (crotch) to the very top of the fly. They all do have a different number of inches of course, lol!
Now measure the inseam gap from the crotch, at the spot where the front and back seams. You’ll also note where you want the pants to stop on your leg, which is what the ideal length of your inseam will be. Hold the bok against the wall and pull that up firmly into your inseam.
Or, try my handy trick for finding front rise: This measurement (no multiplication needed) is the pant's front rise. To measure the front rise of your pants, start at the bottom center of the crotch seam and measure up to the top of the waistband.
Stretch the waist flat and align the front and the back of the waistband, measure straight on the bottom and multiply it by 2. The mark on the string hits around the middle of the third fold on the dollar bill, close to 4 inches. Another option is to bring a pair of pants that currently fit you well and compare the inseams in order to determine whether the new pants have a suitable inseam length.

Measure that space on the wall (in pencil!). Keep it nice and straight measure along the spine and then take the measure to the top of the spine.
If you are shopping for pants that do not state the inseam, you may need to measure the pants in order to determine whether they will be a good fit for you or not. To measure the rise on women's pants, first locate the intersection of the inseam at the crotch. Then consider adjustments you’d like to make.

How to measure the front rise. Make sure that you measure in a straight line, directly up the zipper. Next, measure from the seam at the very center of the pant's crotch to the top of the front waistband.
Grab a tape measure and hold it at the bottom of the crotch, then run the tape down the length of the inseam, to the ankle.
